Looking Back, Moving Forward
What 2025 Taught Us—and How Lotus Marketing is Stepping Into 2026
As we wrap up the year, we’re reflecting on top takeaways from 2025 and aligning for what’s next in 2026. This year, noise was everywhere. From AI reshaping how people search to executive teams redefining the commercial org chart, it felt like shiny object syndrome was the norm. Add in global uncertainty and shifting guest behaviors, and it’s no wonder hotel marketers felt like they were sprinting to keep up.
But here’s what we discovered: chasing trends won’t move the needle if you lose sight of what actually works.
At Lotus Marketing, we went back to the basics: real ideas from real hotel experience. We listened to teams on the ground, joined critical conversations at HSMAI, and partnered with industry leaders on what’s next, including research shaping the future of hospitality and the gig workforce. And what emerged was clarity. In a time when the funnel has flattened and guest journeys are non-linear, connection and convergence are everything.
The Hotel Strategy That Still Works: Start With What’s True
Looking ahead, 2026 won’t be about doing more. It will be about doing what matters.
Big brands will continue to chase scale, providing solutions that work for many, but not all. You’ll win by being specific: by knowing exactly who you are, who you serve, and how to meet your guest at every moment of their journey. Your goals. Your team. Your guest. That’s where the power lives.
Here are three strategies we’re carrying into the new year:
- Start With the Heart
You can’t build connection if you don’t know who you are. Brand clarity and hotel positioning are the foundation for relevance and loyalty. When your internal team is aligned, your external messaging becomes magnetic. - Win on Your Differences
Stop benchmarking against what’s already out there. Instead, double down on what makes you unlike anyone else. Your content strategy should be rooted in those differences, not diluted by sameness. - Redefine Success
Reporting has shifted. With zero-click searches and fragmented journeys, old KPIs may no longer tell the full story. Now is the time to rethink what success looks like and track what truly matters to your hotel, portfolio or owners.
